civil war. WhenIn 1846, America offered $5 million to $25 million to gain western lands. Mexico did not except the USoffer though. This led America and Mexico to go to war, as the Americans were fighting for the land they felt was "Given" to them via Manifest Destiny. Also they were fighting for Texas which they had tried to aceed into the U.S. Over all, the U.S won the war and gained Texas, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. This war had a major geographical impact on the U.S, as they got a lot of land from the war. The Americans also got "Training" for the civil war.

to restock. The Mountain Men had a large economic impact in their time. One of the ways Mountain Men affected their economy was through their buisness- trapping animals for furs and skins. In London, beaver skins were highley prized because beaver skin hats were very popular there. So, Mountain Men could get a lot of money from the skins. Another way the Mountain Men affected the economy was through the supplies that they bought. There were places in the mountains called rendezous (Ron-day-voos), or places where people would meet up and buy supplies. The prices of items at rendezous were very expensive, as the supply of items was low, but demand was high. These rendezous were important to Mountain Men and also helped the economy.

In the Westward Expansion changed the US in many wanys. One way with culture fits in with the Manifest destinty is that the gold rush.
there were many diffrant culturs came to california in search of gold like, slaves, free blacks cherokees, Chinese. Gold was discovered gold at Sutter's mill in 1848 by a guy called John Sutter's.most miners mad between fifty and a hundred dollers a month. In the story that we read, if you wanted a boiled agg, a pound of coffee, and one apple it would cost 5$Now it would cost more. The venders where chagersing so much becuase the demant was so high and there was no where else that the miners could not get their food or anything. So many wanted to go to California they did not think of the dangers, there were so many dangers like the hostile Indian, and the land and cross flooding and also tropical disease and they waters where very wild. So many people figered out about the gold rush that even the Chinese found out. So many Chinese people that the Americans treated them even worst then the Europeans because there was so many of them an onlt a little amount of gold and the Americans wanted it all for themselves.

The type of person that might best suit the mountain men lifestyle is a strong well cultured man. A man named Jim Beckwith joined the mountain men because in his home town he was poorly treated because of being black. But becuase he joined the mountain men he was much more respected. Despite many awful things that happened, there were a couple of good things that came out of the interation between the mountain men and the Natives. A couple of them were that they traded and that they fought well together. The mountain men are seperated from the rest of society so they aren't very informed. To make a living the mountain men opened shops for people to restock.
